Sounds like it was installed wrong. It’s hard to fix now, if the bathroom is finished.
hooks right if this is an old shower.
Any squeaking means its moving and can let water in were its not supposed to be. many times the fiberglass inserts are put in because they are cheap by dyi’ers or handymen and not properly installed in the first place.
It is an asap repair to minimize any damage. water damage and rot get expensive quick.
the shower should come out and any damage cleaned up and repaired. the shower should be inspected for cracks and properly reinstalled or replaced
From what you describe I’d say you have water leaking from someplace and rotting out the sub Floor.
I had something similar but it was just outside the shower doors, The wood was getting wet under the Rug from water leaking out of the bottom of the shower door ( old and warped a bit ) also from everyone stepping out of the shower wet, I have to pull up the rug and cut out a 2 foot square section of sub floor and replace it. If you can see the Fitting for the drain from your basement, I’d check to see if that’s the problem,
