Get Rid Of Chemical Smell Inside Cabinets?

5

My kitchen has been renovated for more than a year now. However, the smell inside the cabinets are still very prominent and I don’t know how to get of the smell. I don’t know what the smell is exactly, but it’s that kind of chemical smell on new cabinets.
I’ve tried putting black charcoal inside but it doesn’t work.
Is there anything I could use to get rid of the smell? I think it’s unhealthy to inhale. Holding my breath everytime I open the cabinets doesn’t seem to be a good solution.

As another person said, try spraying them with water and vinegar. However, I would recommend a higher concentration of vinegar. Let’s say two cups of vinegar to 1 cup of water. Even if you have vinegar smell for a while, it will not be offensive and eventually would fade.
Besides this, you could open your windows, empty your cabinets and open the cabinets doors to have them air out. You might need to repeat this procedure a couple of times.
    Good luck!!!

You definitely had the right idea with charcoal. However, regular charcoal doesn’t have the odor absorbing qualities that special activated carbon does. I’ve tried both., so here’s my suggestion which is what I’ve done and wow – it really works great!! … and safe and totally fragrance free. Go out and get a couple of the FRIDGE-IT activated carbon odor absorbers – little purple carbon filter – not the imitations. costs $2 – $3 dollars each and place one or two in each cabinet. Totally unscented so it actually eliminates odor rather than covering up with some nasty fragrance and totally safe to use.
I’ve used these for worst smells including wierd smell in cabinet, litter boxes, spoiled fish in car and for closets, fridge etc. they are FANTASTIC> No spills or chemicals to worry about. You can buy these in kitchen gadget stores or just go direct which is what I do – contact them at customerservice@innofresh.com and ask for order form. You get it right away.
Can also buy at starcrest catalog (on web).Definitely the way to go. try it.
    Good luck

Try an mixture of 50/50 white vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Works great on carpet and upholstery, should work just as well in this instance. At first your cabinets will smell like salad, but that only lasts about 20minutes, and then it smells fresh.
